Abstract
We found negative emotionality mediated the relationship between community violence exposure and substance use disorder diagnosis. However, increased access to structural services (i.e., healthy food, health care, and social services) in participants’ neighborhoods weakened this relationship, highlighting the importance of structural services in mitigating negative consequences of community violence exposure.
