Your Feelings Are Reasonable: Emotional Validation Promotes Persistence Among Preschoolers

Abstract

We examined the effect of emotional validation on persistence through two studies. Study 1 revealed that parents’ tendency to validate emotions is positively related to children’s persistence. In Study 2, we found the children under emotion validation condition persisted longer than those in invalidation and baseline conditions.
