The Long Arm of Childhood: How Adverse Childhood Experiences Influence Psychological Distress and the Mediation Pathway of Insomnia

Our study in 1231 Chinese young adults (54.5% male; 56.9% aged 18-20 years) showed that adverse childhood experiences were associated with psychological distress, partially mediated through insomnia symptoms. Screening of ACEs was informed, and sleep behaviors can be the target of mental health prevention and intervention programs in young adults.
