Future Orientation Reduces Zero-Sum Beliefs: The Mediating Role of State Authenticity

We examined whether and how future orientation could reduce zero-sum beliefs (ZSB), an individual's belief that one party's gains inevitably cause other parties' losses. Across three studies, we measured and manipulated future orientation and found that future orientation is negatively correlated with and reduces ZSB via the enhanced state authenticity.
