“Here, I Need to be More Virtuous Than Other People”: Cultural Tightness Exacerbate Moral Superiority

Limited research examined antecedents of moral superiority. Across four studies (N = 739), with multiple designs and diverse samples, we revealed the effect of cultural tightness on moral superiority, and the mediating role of the desire for status. We hope our findings could interpret cultural variations in the moral domain.
