The Impact of Prior Event Knowledge on New Learning: The Roles of Association, Causality and Temporal Distance

Abstract
We examined how associative, causal, and temporal relationships within event structures may impact memory for image pairs. We found that memory accuracy is higher when the two images portrayed a stronger association and when the images illustrated stronger causal relationships. Results are interpreted in terms of the Schema Theory.
