Abstract
Study results (N = 280) revealed significant subgroup differences in student performance, underscoring the need for diversified assessment methods. Using the Community of Inquiry framework, our study suggested the need to balance traditional knowledge-focused (exams) activities with engagement-focused activities (integrative writing and discussion responses) to foster equitable educational outcomes.
