Elevating Student Voice with a Mixed Methods Approach to Measuring Social-Emotional Learning

Abstract
This paper presents an innovative measurement approach, combining student-generated narratives of their experiences in school with quantitative survey-based measures of social-emotional learning (SEL). This approach adds to typical school practice by applying narrative inquiry to elevate student voice, highlighting where student perceptions align with or diverge from typical SEL metrics.
