A Multilevel Meta-Analysis: Higher Neighborhood Socioeconomic Status Is Associated with Better Executive Function in Childhood

Abstract
We conducted a meta-analysis of the association between neighborhood SES and executive function (EF) in childhood. Based on 17 studies, higher neighborhood SES was associated with better EF, even controlling for covariates. Future research on EF should consider neighborhood SES to avoid missing important contributions of the children’s broader environment.
