Undergraduate Students Recognize the Heterogeneity within the Autism Spectrum, but Overestimate the Number of Autistic Individuals with an Intellectual Disability

Undergraduate students completed the Knowledge of Autism Heterogeneity Assessment. Overall, participants demonstrated awareness of the heterogeneity within the autism spectrum. However, participants overestimated the number of autistic individuals with an intellectual disability, with 29% of participants believing that all autistic individuals have an intellectual disability.
