Peer Preference and Executive Functioning Development: Longitudinal Relations Among Females with/without ADHD across the Lifespan

Abstract

Using prospective data on women with and without childhood ADHD, we evaluated relations between childhood peer preference and the development of executive functioning processes. With stringent covariates, lower sociometric peer preference in childhood predicted significantly slower improvement in response inhibition across development, with impairments extending into early adulthood.
