The Lonely Side of Social Media: Predicting Social Isolation through Self-Uncertainty and Passive Social Media Use

The study assessed the impact that social media use has on perceived loneliness, specifically for people who were highly self-uncertain. While no interaction was found, a main effect on uncertainty to loneliness was discovered. The finding indicates that those who feel higher uncertainty feel lonelier and less connection to others.
