Association between Social Media Use and Depression Among High School Students in a State-Wide Random Sample.

Abstract
Depression and social media use were investigated in a state-wide random sample of schools (n=46,547). Depression was associated with social media use (ORgirls = 1.52, P=0.01). Most students (63.6%) checked social media at least hourly. Growing evidence links social media to declining youth mental health.
