Abstract

Objectified people reported higher relative deprivation, lower self-regulation, and more dishonest tendencies than nonobjectified people. Moreover, relative deprivation and self-regulation serially mediated the effect of sexual objectification on dishonesty. These findings highlight one potential mechanism for understanding behavioral responses following sexual objectification, offering insights for potential intervention strategies.
