Abstract
Job embeddedness consistently predicts positive workplace outcomes, we question whether it always has normatively desirable consequences for society at large. We develop a model of why and when embeddedness can motivate unethical behavior, finding robust support for it across field studies of terrorist organizations and experiments among US employees.
