The Moderating Effect of Mindset on the Impact of Ability Grouping on Self-Efficacy in Mathematics

Abstract

This study examined whether an individual’s math mindset moderated the relationship between fluctuations in math grades and self-efficacy. To do so, we examined 133 high school juniors in South Korea. The results showed that when students' achievement went down, so did their self-efficacy, especially among students with a fixed mindset.
