The Implications of Using Fear-Evoking Language in Mental Health Communications

Participants were assigned to read one of three statements regarding mental health ("The college is talking about (1) "issues of interest," (2) "mental health," or (3) "the mental health crisis"). Those in the "mental health crisis" prime gave lower mental health ratings of themselves and of their campus.
