Assessing the Content of Spontaneous Cognition at Short Timescales

To efficiently quantify spontaneous cognition in a lab setting, we developed and validated a novel task – the Brief Inner Experience Probe – in a sample of 117 participants. Results indicate this method can efficiently and reliably assess self-reported spontaneous cognition across a number of thought dimensions.
