Students Transitioning into Grade 9 at the Start of the Pandemic Self-Report Steeper Increases over Time in School Stress, but Not Depressive Symptoms or Social Stress, Compared to Students in Later Grades.

Abstract

We tested whether transitioning into high school during the pandemic was problematic for psychosocial adjustment. Adolescents (N = 629) were surveyed annually for 6 years. For students entering grade 9 during the pandemic, there was an increase in school stress over time, but no change for other adjustment indicators.
