Abstract
This research tests a self-determination theory model explaining the development of body image, eating regulation and adjustment outcomes among Chinese adolescents. Results from a large 2-year panel supported the following longitudinal model: parenting styles -> basic psychological needs -> body image inflexibility -> eating dysregulation and adjustment outcomes.
