Abstract
Childhood maltreatment (CM) is a global problem and understanding long-term consequences is important for treatment strategies. Our study examined relationships between types of CM and emotion recognition. CM predicted accurate recognition of others’ fear but not anger. Emotional and sexual abuse predicted increased accuracy and physical abuse predicted decreased accuracy.
