The Sweet Spot: Student Insights on Philanthropy Versus Pleasure in Positive Psychology

This study assessed college students' qualitative reflections of pleasurable and philanthropic activities, highlighting pleasure's instant gratification and philanthropy's delayed satisfaction. Students indicated a preference for philanthropic over pleasurable activities, however, they reported enjoying both. The presence of social connections was common across activities, highlighting its importance to general wellbeing.
