Gendered Racism, Friendships, and Mental Health Among Young Women of Color

Abstract

This study explores impact of friendships on mental health risks of gendered racism experienced by young women of color offline and online. Among 339 Asian/Asian American, Black, and Hispanic/Latina women, the co-rumination partially mediated the association between discrimination and mental health risk, while high quality friendships buffered the risk.
