Abstract

We developed an orthographic knowledge measure for difficult English words (e.g., “difficult”). Item response analyses show good evidence of validity and reliability based on samples of 189 (Grades 8-12, M_age=15, α=.92) and 69 (Grades 9 to 1st-year college, M_age=17.6, α=.96) English learners in China.
