Abstract
We conducted three multi-level analyses with large-scale cross-regional samples. Results showed correlational evidence that people in more unequal societies perceived performed fewer pro-environmental behaviors, and generalized trust could play a mediating role. Additionally, in more collectivistic societies, the predicting effect of economic inequality on pro-environmental behaviors was stronger.
