Abstract

We formalized a model of alcohol use-related problems that integrates several theory-derived factors, including negative affect, drinking motives, craving, alcohol use, and consequences of use. We used both simulations and an empirical daily diary dataset to test predictions from this computational model. The model can explain relevant alcohol use-related phenomena.
