Experience with Hurricanes Increases Likelihood of Fear of Hurricanes but Tornado Experience Does Not Predict Tornado Fear

The current study fills gaps in the literature by examining the relationship between experiencing severe weather events and fear of those events. Participants who experienced a hurricane once or three or more times reported significantly more fear of hurricanes than those who never experienced a hurricane.
