Abstract
The effects of verbal framing in opening statements on mock jurors’ legal judgments were examined. Participants (N=207) were more likely to find the defendant guilty when the prosecution used verbal framing on the video evidence (p<.05). The effect appeared to be mediated by participants’ perception of evidence and emotional responses.
