Abstract
Child maltreatment is a widespread occurrence that impacts emotion regulation. We found five types of child maltreatment, especially emotional neglect, and posttraumatic growth predicted emotion regulation. Posttraumatic growth was a significant moderator. Specifically, even after experiencing childhood emotional neglect, adults with greater posttraumatic growth are more effective at regulating emotions.
