Dimensions of Depression Associated with Substance Use Disorders: Evidence of Shared and Non-Shared Symptomology

Abstract
We investigated the associations between depression criteria and three prevalent substance use disorders. Data from 36,309 participants (Mage=46, 44% male) were examined using regression. Associations between depression criteria and substances varied by drug and disorder severity (OR ranging from 1.13 (95% CI [1.08, 1.17]) to 1.25 (95% CI [1.21, 1.28]).
