Abstract

We found that psychological disorder prevalence predicted varying rates of homicide and violent death across countries. For example, increased prevalence of bipolar disorders predicted more violent death whereas greater eating disorder prevalence predicted less violent death globally. More bipolar disorder diagnoses predicted more male homicide but less female homicide globally.
