Using Tests to Improve Learning Among Students Who Are Prone to Boredom and Prefer to Multitask

Abstract

Self-testing is a powerful tool to improve learning. In the present study, participants learned paired associates (Chinese-English pairs) through self-testing or repeated restudying. A testing effect was observed, and it was greater among students who reported a higher level of proneness to boredom and preference for multitasking.
