A Comprehensive Understanding of the Song and Non-Song Vocalizations of Humpback Whales

Recognition of the importance of whale sounds has existed since the 1970's. Though numerous recordings exist, little empirical evidence (outside of spectrograms) has been collected. This proposal highlights the importance of combining direct behavioral observation with these sound emissions; and provides several feasible options to bridge this research gap.
