Abstract

This research identified objectification's detrimental effects on belonging and revealed its internal process (i.e., perceived approbation) based on Hirsch and Clark's (2019) theoretical proposition on multiple paths to belonging. Findings provide empirical support for the approbation path to belonging, with implications for understanding objectification's harmful effects and developing mitigating strategies.
