Abstract
In two experiments (n=109) adolescents investigated a multivariable database to ascertain the extent causal/non-causal beliefs were affirmed or warranted revision. Consistent across both samples were the ways in which explanations influenced beliefs and benefitted belief revision. Replicated in both studies was an effect of the experimental condition manipulating explanations.
