Primary Appraisals of Financial and Relational Stressors Predict Coping Flexibility

Abstract
We aimed to determine if perceived controllability (PC) and emotional intensity (EI) predicted coping flexibility (CF) across financial (FS) and relational stressors (RS). Across stressors, PC predicted CF. EI approached significance under RS. Findings indicate higher PC engenders higher CF. EI may predict lower CF under RS, but not FS.
