Empathically resonating with others can lead to prosocial decisions, but there is a challenge in understanding how context and motivated choice shape these relationships. The current talks examine how contextual factors and motivated choices can shape empathic and prosocial decisions, with focus on motivating roles of effort and emotional exhaustion.
