Painting an Integrated Portrait of Dehumanization: New Approaches to Divergent and Predictive Validity

The hypothesis that dehumanization facilitates harm holds intuitive appeal, but recent critiques raise serious questions about the divergent and predictive validity of dehumanization. Using methodologies ranging from neuroscience to experimental philosophy, four speakers refine the conceptualization of dehumanization, differentiate it from prejudice, and clarify its unique relationship with violence.
