2023 International Convention of Psychological Science
The Socio-Cognitive Mechanisms of Misinformation Belief and Transmission.
This symposium presents experimental and theoretical research on the socio-cognitive mechanisms through which misinformation and related debunks are believed and transmitted. The symposium shall cover several relevant mechanisms including source, the illusory-truth effect, biases, motivated reasoning and ideology, thus aiming to offer a nuanced view on the "psychology of misinformation".
