Terror Management at the Movies: How Death in Entertainment Affects Us

Although people avoid thinking about death in daily life, they voluntarily seek out entertainment in which death plays a prominent role in media such as movies. The central question of this symposium is how to explain this paradox. We explore what viewers take away from vicariously experiencing death portrayals.
