Examination of Self-Construals, Socioeconomic Status and Teachers’ Class Consciousness Regarding Experiences of Cultural Mismatch at School
Mismatches between cultures of students and educational institutions undermine achievement and well-being. Across three studies, we examine the consequences of students’ (mis)fit with middle-class self-construal patterns, how intersections of class and race/ethnicity inform cultural mismatches and how students navigate them, and how teachers’ class consciousness can make a positive difference
