How to be in Someone Else’s Shoes? Current Research on the Multifaceted Nature of Perspective-Taking
This symposium synthesizes recent research from clinical, cognitive, and social psychology on perspective-taking. The symposium outlines which psychological mechanisms likely affect the representation of another’s perspective, and how often healthy and clinical populations use these mechanisms. A model of the perspective-taking process is proposed based on these findings.
