Understanding the Underlying Mechanisms of Isolation, Loneliness, and Solitude Using Experimental Approach
This symposium will present findings from different novel methodologies to study the effects of isolation, loneliness, and solitude on psychological, biological, and behavioural outcomes. Describing both in-lab and field experiments, the presenters will discuss the underlying mechanisms that explain the short-term and long-term effects of these experiences on mental health.
