New Directions in Identity Research: The Process, Content, and Outcomes of Sociocultural Identities in the US Context
The papers in this symposium use novel methodological approaches (latent profile analysis, piping) to examine how Black and immigrant adults in the U.S. negotiate their various sociocultural identities (national, ethnic, racial, immigrant). Findings show that identity constructions are contextually determined, can transcend traditional cultural definitions, and have implications for well-being.
