Beliefs about Chemical Imbalances, Genetics, and Emotions in Depression and Addiction: Relations with Treatment Attitudes and Self-Efficacy
Popular narratives about depression and addiction emphasize biogenetic factors, yet these messages can lead to unhelpful beliefs. This symposium brings four lines of research among younger adults, older adults, and addiction treatment providers to demonstrate how these beliefs impact treatment attitudes and self-efficacy about recovery.
