Harnessing Social Support As a Route to Emotion Regulation
Emotion regulation is often studied as an intrapersonal process. We explore when, why and how people turn to others to help them emotionally regulate. We use varied methods including experiments, ecological momentary assessment, and physiological measurements to illustrate how particular types of social support can be leveraged to promote regulation.
