Ongoing Task Accuracy Influences the Magnitude of the Illusory Truth Effect

Abstract
Does accuracy on an ongoing secondary task influence the size of the illusory truth effect (ITE)? Across studies, participants counted vowels at encoding or read claims, before assessing whether each claim was true in phase 2. The secondary task reduced the ITE, but higher vowel-counting accuracy predicted a larger ITE.
