Abstract
The bamboo ceiling refers to bias that limits Asian-Americans from progressing in their careers. While some argue that misalignment between Asian and leader stereotypes push Asian Americans into subordinate roles, this study finds that Asian-American identity is related to positive perceptions of followership, suggesting a pull towards subordinate roles.
