A Qualitative Analysis of Coping Behaviors before, during, and after a Tornado

Abstract
This study explored problem-focused, emotion-focused, and religious coping via interviews with 80 direct tornado survivors. Because coping unfolds over time, we also explored differences in coping before, during, and after the tornado's impact. Problem-focused coping was more common before and during tornadoes; emotion-focused coping was more prevalent afterward.
