Abstract

The present study used latent profile analysis to identify subgroups of maladaptive emotion regulation (ER) strategies across cognitive, interpersonal, and behavioral response domains that may increase risk for deliberate self-harm (DSH). Maladaptive behavioral ER responses and the cognitive strategy of denial were specifically related to using DSH while in distress.
